Cloud email addresses to replace me.com in apple's latest launch of ios6 beta 3 | ios 6
Apple has made the announcement for launching of the latest beta version of ios 6 beta 3 to its developers along with code developer preview 3 and Apple TV software 3 this on 16th july, i.e this Monday. This third beta version of the next Apple operating system is made available to the users in just third week after the launching of the second beta veersion. The ios 6 beta 3 has brought in a host of new features for iPhone and iPad, striking among which is the introduction of the new ‘icloud.com’ email address, ending in @icloud.com based on the Apple ID account names of the users.
This ‘icloud.com’ email address will replace the old ‘me.com’ email address, as apple has discontinued with their mobileMe services in favour of iCloud services. Apple have stopped all the Mobile me services since june 30th in favour of this more integrated icloud service which they newly launched. Nevertheless the customers of the Me services would be able to transfer their account to the new iCloud services within the given time period. The icloud users with old ‘me.com’ email addresses need not worry, as they will retain their previous email address with newly provided @icloud.com email address. However, newly signed Apple ID users will automatically receive the new @icloud.com email address along with those who are enabling email on their icloud account for the first time. This transition of the email address is quite similar to the previous transition made in 2008 when, apple switched over to @me from @ mac, shutting down all the mac services in favour of me. This is the second time when Apple users are again witnessing switch over to a new service in the past four years.
In addition, an announcement of inclusion of more than 200 new features in ios 6 was done at Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) last month by Apple, which includes, updates to siri, better facebook access, new passbook apps that will enable the user to store loyalty cards, boarding passes, and e-tickts. New settings are also made to the map app which will enable the user to customize the navigators voice, display distances in miles or kilometers, provision for displaying maps in local languages or always in English and also setting map sizes to either ‘normal; or ‘large’.
Users are very satisfied with the services provided by the new beta version 3 which adds better and easier information regarding public transport, 3D models, satellite imagery, and traffic information to the new map app thus making it more users friendly. It also has an option of adding phone number to imessage for multiple messaging along with new icons for mail and privacy settings. Therefore now the user of this new technology will be able to perform multiple messages.
However apple is expected to release this new beta version of ios6 alongside the launching of its new sixth generation iPhone very soon, tentatively by this fall. Hence, one can expect lots of many news things from Apple.
